Description

8 day stages from Mittenwald to Deggendorf.

We accompany the Isar, "the wild one", from its source in the Karwendel mountains to its mouth in the Danube near Deggendorf. Around 350 kilometers of great impressions - mountains, baroque and beer gardens!

The routes starts in Mittenwald. The town is known for its Lüftlmalerei paintings. From the source of the Isar via Scharnitz, you first head into the Karwendel mountains, where the Isar rushes through gorges and then changes into a flat gravel bed. From the Sylvenstein reservoir via Bad Tölz and the rafting town of Wolfratshausen, you reach Munich. The route continues through the shady Isar floodplains via the cathedral city of Freising and the ducal city of Landshut to the natural floodplain landscape in the estuary near Deggendorf.

The best at a glance:
Daily stages with super beautiful photos

Top - the stage to the source of the Isar up into the Karwendel mountains with breathtaking impressions and a hearty stop at the Kastenalm

The best is along the way: e.g. Munich's old town with Marienplatz, in Mittenwald the Obermarkt with the Lüftlmalereien, Trausnitz Castle near Landshut

Meal time!
