Which size do you have? Most people, when asked this question about their shoe size, can answer without hesitation, most, however, stumble when it comes to their glove size. Large, small and medium styles sound easy enough, but what does a “small” glove size for example really mean? The quandary for many customers, especially when buying gloves online, is in choosing the “right” size. Is a “one size fits all” really going to be the correct fit? Is a size 7.5, 8 or 8.5 the same as a size S, M or L? Simply enough explained in our size chart, the following guide will make things easier for you when determining your glove size.

- Choosing the right size
First off, to obtain your glove size, you need a tape measure. You can also just use a piece of string. In this case, you’ll need a ruler as well to indicate the length.
Instructions: How can I measure my glove size?
Place the tape measure or measuring device in the centre of your hand, e.g. below the knuckles and above the thumb crease – with the hand being open and slightly bent. The tape should be loose but not slack, it should sit at the widest point. Be careful with elastic, try to avoid stretch fabric tapes for measuring. By now, you should have your hand circumference or alternatively the length of the measurements taken from a ruler. With the help of the centimetre measurements you’ll now be able to find out what size glove you wear.

In-between sizes beware!
Larger than average female size, wider hands and long fingers? At Bergzeit, our range of gloves cater to men, women and children and in those instances where the dimensions don’t run to the “norm”, you’d be wise to browse under another gender other than your own. E.g. if your dimensions border on very wide (mostly men’s styles) or very delicate (mainly women’s styles) or adults with petite, smallish hands, will more than likely find their fit in the children’s glove category.
- Tip: Just for the record, long fingernails need to be considered when purchasing gloves – as most ladies would know!
Even gloves need to sit right
Whether gloves fit correctly, can only be assessed by trying them on. Similar to shoes, a seam of the design of stitching can press or cause discomfort. Perfectly fitting gloves should have a cuff wide enough to slip over your wrist (width check) and fingers should be slightly forward, without encountering any restriction in movement.
